Hello all. I arrived at this group searching for good information on
freemasonry, and after reading some of your post believe this may be a
good place to find answers. I live and work in a small town in
Virginia for a number of years ,am a family man,and understand to be 1
ask 1. But what do you do when you don't know one to ask?
Thank you in advance for your time and understanding.

Hello, Mike. If you tell me what town in Virginia, I may be able to put
you in contact with masons from there.

Find a lodge near you. Look in the phone book. Go to the lodge and you may find contact information on the lodge entrance. Or you may be able to find someone in the lodge.

Another path is to contact the Grand Lodge of Virginia and let them know you are interested in petitioning a Lodge. They can forward your request and contact info to a lodge near you.

Don't be afraid to come forward AND USE EITHER OR BOTH OF THESE METHODS. We don't bite, except at stated dinners. :)

Here's the lodge locator page for the Virginia grand lodge -

http://www.grandlodgeofvirginia.org/lodges/index.asp

You should be able to find several lodges near you. You need to allow
pop-ups.

Once you find a few local lodges go meet them and ask for a petition.
